According to Fiorelli,

VIII.4.42 –Segue un stabulum, che rinchiude la mangiatoia, l’abbeveratoio, e la stalla: innanzi al suo ingress furono svelte dal margine della via i sassi che lo contornavano, per dare piu commodo accesso agli animali.

(translation: “Following was a stable, which had a feeding and water trough and the stall: also at its entrance was a more commodious entrance for the animals”.)

VIII.4.43 – Vi era di fianco una cella pel custos stabuli, che guardava in esso, e communicava con la bottega attigua.

(translation: “At the side was a room for the custos stabuli, which communicated with the adjoining shop”.)
